UBC Extended Learning Launches Unity Developer Bootcamp: Enrolment Open Now
Post date :
Sept 20, 2022
UBC Extended Learning has officially launched the Unity Developer Bootcamp. Students can begin the Bootcamp application process now, with the view of starting their education this October.
Since August 2021, UBC Extended Learning has partnered with Circuit Stream to offer beginner-friendly courses and workshops in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) design and development.
This partnership has helped UBC Extended Learning provide its students with opportunities to learn real-time 3D skills and gain the experience needed for various careers in the rapidly growing XR industry.
The demand for real-time 3D skills (RT3D) has grown 601% faster than the overall job market in recent years, with high growth projected to continue. Statista research on immersive technology growth is clear:
XR Headset revenue will hit $4.4B in 2023—doubling the figures from 2021.
Virtual reality revenue will reach $5.1B in 2023—almost double the $2.6B spent in 2018.
Total immersive technology revenue is expected to reach $12.3B in 2023—up from $9.2B in 2021.
As the market demand heats up, 60% of employers expect to become more reliant on people with advanced digital skills over the next five years. The Unity Developer Bootcamp will offer people the best way to learn the skills needed to enter the XR industry and succeed.
UBC Extended Learning is happy to expand its XR course offering by launching the inaugural Unity Developer Bootcamp. The intensive 24-week online Bootcamp will prepare students for a successful career in virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D development.
When asked about this new offering, Circuit Stream Co-Founder Mike Jarrell had this to say: “We’re thrilled that UBC Extended Learning approved this new course and its curriculum! It shows that our partners are committed to staying at the front of immersive technology and are providing their students with best-in-class XR education opportunities."
When does the Unity Developer Bootcamp start?
Unity Developer Bootcamp begins on October 11, 2022. UBC is actively accepting applications for the Unity Bootcamp from prospective students. The enrolment window will remain open until September 30.
For a limited time, students who apply for the October 2022 cohort are eligible for 15% discount.
How can students apply to Bootcamp?
In contrast to the other beginner-friendly courses UBC Extended Learning offers in partnership with Circuit Stream, the Bootcamp is suited for individuals with some prior experience with Unity.
The four-step application process for the Bootcamp begins with a qualifying exam to test prospective students' existing knowledge of Unity before determining whether they are ready to progress to the next step.
Prospective students can learn more about the application process and the course outcomes here.
