Selection of industry and hiring partners for this bootcamp:
With the rising demand for game designers across Canada, the Game Design Bootcamp was created to prepare students with the skills and professional network needed to launch a career in the industry.
Over the course of 30 weeks, you will acquire the skills needed to analyze game design elements, conceive gameplay concepts, and design game mechanics with various tools. You will also learn about the role of game designer, its various specializations, and how they fit into video game production.
Learners take their new skills to the next level on challenging projects, working with their peers to create functioning game prototypes, and test novel gameplay concepts to showcase their game design knowledge. Students will gain experience in Unreal Engine to prototype their game ideas - giving them a competitive edge in the job market.
Students receive a Digital Badge from UBC Extended Learning and Circuit Stream, showcasing their accomplishments to future employers.
Students benefit from a wide array of career support services like resume and networking support, technical interview preparation, portfolio reviews, soft skills training, and 1:1 coaching to help them put their best foot forward in the industry.

What Our Students Are Saying
Prior to this course, I could barely get a recreation of pong functional. Now, I am confident in my ability to create GDD's, develop prototypes, iterate, conduct and learn from play tests, and cast myself as a designer with industry-relevant skills that go beyond what happens in a game engine. I also came out with a few portfolio pieces, and my own website.
